NCEMS builds and supports a community in carrying out team and open science.
The center eases collaboration through cloud-agnostic cyberinfrastructure; provides training in essential elements of data science, machine learning, and statistics; offers nationwide opportunities to participate in NCEMS research remotely; and builds a cohort of talented undergraduates involved in center research and supported in their professional development. These center activities accelerate molecular and cellular sciences, combining the latest data science and computational methods with scientists ranging from physicists to cell biologists and bioengineers.

A 4-day Annual Summit meeting, held at Penn State that brings together up to 200 community participants to discuss synthesis research and innovation, shape future directions for the center, and explore the support the center offers.
